Long ago, longer now then it seems, A small child was born in a village just north  of Pompeii. This child was born to a Divine mother   whom was sought out by many for her gift of sight. Though her gift was rare she did not charge those who begged for her wisdom and lived humbly. As the boy grew so did the gift in which he shared with his mother, however it was not long till even she noticed that his powers where far more advance then her own. His ability to see what may happen was far more accurate then hers and he was easily able to beckon it at will. As he was praised and rewards for his gift the boy started to see the potential life him and his mother could be living in rather then in the small cottage in which the dwelled in. He pleaded with his mother, and yet now matter how hard she tried there was nothing she could do to curve his hunger for fortune and fame. She did all she could to keep the boy humble but upon his eighteenth birthday she packed his bag and sent him to the city, if he could not live humbly among her and her people there was no place for him in the village. So Cletus left his mother as he made his way to the big city of Pompeii to claim what was rightfully his. ( 243 words )

Its was not long after the young man had moved to the great city did he find his place in the world. From a small home to a lavish mansion and grand gardens, Cletus was worshiped like a Demi God for his ability. His taste for the finer things in life had grown and yet his hunger for gold had yet to be satisfied. As his power in the capital grew he started to gouge the people who crawled to him begging him for small visions of hope. Cletus started to with hold information and even leave people hanging on wanting the conclusion of his vision and charge them ten fold for the vital information his was holding back, with his words almost toxic and addicting and his intentions not noble, many considered him a snake for his reputations was both good and bad depending on whom you asked. The Wealthy nobles willing to pay the price built statues in his honor as the lower end classes hissed at his tarnished name. As long as Cletus had the nobles backing him, he did not need the support of the lower class the upkeep his god like life style. One day a noble family came to his door asking for a false visions, to state that he forsees a happy and fruitful marriage between their daughter and a even wealthier nobles son.  In which Cletus would be showered in riches for making the union possible. With his eyes glittering like gold at thought of this offer Cletus eagerly agreed. Though mere months later new spread that the bride to be has parishes as she did not love her groom and could not be parted from her true love. The Grieving nobles who paid for the false vision blamed Cletus for this and with angry eyes the nobles of Pompeii turned their back on Cletus.   ( 313 words )

Cletus's  golden words which everyone had sought out at one point had crumbled to mere ash and was worth nothing more. No one in the great city of Pompeii trusted a word the snake had to say. Cletus locked himself away in his mansion surrounded by nothing but then the treasures he had collected and no one to share them with. The great hall in which once held lavish feast and echoed with laughter where now empty and silent. He ran to his visions to watch the mishappening of those that betrayed him, which fueled his anger. One rainy night as he sat alone in his bath, a vision like no other has grasped him. It had knocked the wind out of him. Grasping for air, ash fell around him and fire rained outside. The Great city was meeting its end and all with in the city where falling with it. Once the horror had ended Cletus fought to catch his breath. Still alone, with the sound of rain just outside he took a moment to grasp the fact that what he saw may as well be the end of the world and the City needed to know, Yet the city needed to know does not mean they deserved to know. Why should he help after all they had done to him. The thought of watching the city burn almost excited him. To know that all who had spited him got exactly what they deserved . He knew when the end was. ( 251 word )

The morning of the end of Pompeii Cletus had a wagon hitched to a couple of horses and all he needed and more to start a new life in Athens where he planed to make a fresh start form the wrenched people who where about to perish here in the city. He mounted the wagon and slowly made is way out of this city, but not long after his journey began did the earth began to rumble under him. The horses grew unsteady. Cletus looked up at the awakening volcano and knew the end was much closer then he had forseen. With a scowle Cletus urged the horses forth, pushing them to move faster to try to avoid the mass panic that would soon fall upon the city. Once he reached the market place the top of the mounted exploded and the fire in which Cletus knew was coming started to rain around him. The horses jumped and grew out of control Cletus kept trying to urge them forward but the wagon was stuck on the uneven road. He got out of the wagon and tried to unharness the horses to ride one to safety but bolted before he could secure them. As the horses ran out of sight he turn to the wagon and tried to grab all that he could while panic surrounded him.

Ash began to rain from above and he quickly grabbed everything he could in his arms. Pearls and coins feel from his arms and he jogged as fast as he could to escape. The burden of his treasure weighed him down. People screamed and ran about like mice on a sinking boat. It got to a point where people ran into him causing he to loose more and more of his treasure. It finaly came to a point where the volcano began to ooze hot lava and fear struck his heart. He dropped everything he had managed to cling to and ran out of the city as fast as he could and up the nearest mountain. Upon the cliff he could hear the cries and watched the city burn. He had manage to escape. His hand rest on his chest, but a cold breeze fell over him...He was confused by this and looked around. Behind him stood three hooded figures. The middle one spoke "Just because you foresaw this does not mean you are allowed to escape fate." A Gold string was pulled out and a pair of scissors with it. Each figure at the end help the gold string tight as  the scissors came close to it to cut his life short. He dropped to his knees and pleaded out that he was not ready to die and offered all he had to the fates. The one in the middle looked at the two standing by them and there was a moment of silence. "We want your gift, the gift to see into the beyond." (266 )

Of course who could pass up the offer to save ones life? He agrees all to quickly to the deal they had offered. The Fates moved closer to him and surrounded him. Before he know it his face was on fire, and he was pulled downward. When he awoke he had only been able to see from one eye. His gift must had rested in his eyes. Though he can kinda see into the future it was not like before. He had woke up in the Underworld he has later found out and became the Keeper of Time.  The gold ooze that drips from him contains the same gold sand that was in the Hour glass of time. It was a way to bind him to the underworld and gave him a eternal life span. He should have been more careful in which he had wished from and the job he had now humbled him a little. the Fates now use his eye to peer into the future and made them more useful to the king of the underworld how he now served.  (183 )
